7.       People:- In general residents of the village are very soft in nature and are helpful. There has always been a tussle between Chelian da Parivar and Lambran da Parivar for supremacy. During 1963 there was one murder in the village in which S. Hazara Singh was killed by his nephews S. Chanan Singh and S. Mohinder Singh on a petty dispute of sharing of a hand pump. Both Chanan Singh and Mohinder Singh were found guilty and were punished three years imprisonment. In general people are hard working with progressive outlook.

8.       Village Sports:- The old people were very fond of wrestling and weight lifting. Still you find heavy stones lying in the Havelies which the younger lot of those days used to lift in the presence of oldies. I am proud that my village has a proper sports club. They have their own Gym machines. Youngsters are fond of body building and it is nice to see cheerful healthy youngsters. May God give them a long life.

(a)    Wrestling:- The famous wrestlers of the village were both brothers S. Santa Singh and S. Banta Singh. It is said that each one of them could drink "one seer pakka desi ghee" (approximately 800 gms) in one go. For 15 years continuously these brothers were the best wrestlers in the district during 1940s.

(b)    Chhinj (        ):- Since 1998, village sports club is organizing Chhinj (wrestling) in the village in which spectators come from far off and known wrestlers are invited for wrestling.

(c)    Weight Lifting:- Weight used to be in the form of stones or in the form of bundle of sugar canes. S. Harbans Singh S/O S. Santa Singh Chelian-da-Parivar

could lift the heaviest stone in the village which subsequently was lifted by his nephew Late S. Iqbal Singh (Master). This stone is still lying as a challenge to the present generation in the "Chelian-di-Haveli". S. Harbans Singh Garcha and S. Pritam Singh Mand could lift the heaviest bundle of sugar canes in the village.

(d)    Moonglian Pherna (                              ):- Moongli of S. Kesar Singh son of S. Santa Singh "Chelian-da-Parivar" was the heaviest which could not be used by any one.

(e)      Kabaddi:- During 1999-2000 village Kabaddi team was the strongest in the Tehsil. Following were the village Kabaddi players:-

          (i)      Satpal Singh (Late)  S/O S. Mehnga Singh

(ii)      Paramjeet Singh      S/O S. Didar Singh

(iii)     Manjit singh           S/O S. Didar Singh

(iv)     Balbir Singh            S/O S. Gurmit Singh

          (v)      Ravinder Singh       S/O S. Gurdev Singh

(vi)     Gurpeet Singh         S/O S. Gurdev Singh

(vii)    Harbinder Singh      S/O S. Iqbal Singh

(viii)   Balbir Singh            S/O S. Harbans Singh Garcha

(f)    Hand Ball

(i)           In general Village Mand and in particular Chelian-da-Parivar is proud to have Ms. Mandip Kaur and Ms. Inderjeet Kaur daughters of Late S. Iqbal Singh (Master) who have earned 13 medals and eight medals each for the village. The details of their medals are given below :-

VILLAGE ASSETS

9.       Land Holding: - Part of the land of adjoining village "Teli Chak" is also allotted to the residents of the village Mand. Village "Teli Chak" is "Be Chirag"( ਬੇ ਚਿਰਾਗ) and all its land is allotted to the residents of village Pandher, Kakoai, Nagre and Rajpalwan. The total land holding of the village is around 200 acres and 50% of the land is very fertile. Each family had mango groves which are on extinction now. The area covering the mango groves was kept as reserved during land consolidation with the understanding that no one will object to the required passage to reach the respective mango groove. The land consolidation was done during 1961.

10.    Irrigation:-Till 1968-69, rain water was the main source of irrigation and there was no tubewell in the village except a common village well (           ). This well was dug during early Nineteen Forties. During Nineteen Ninety two, this well was converted to a tubewell by fitting the pipes and a motor. By doing so, this common tube well has set an example for other villages in co-operative farming and common irrigation. This is a matter of pride for village residents. All existing tubewells in the village has come up after 1968-69. The first owner of the tubewell in the village was Chubare Walian da Parivar followed by Chelian da Parivar. Canal water was also made available during early Nineteen Nineties to the village.

11.    Mechanisation:-Hal Panjali is still mainly in use in the village. However first tractor in the village was purchased by Chelian da Parivar during 1972 and as on today there are only three tractors in the village, out of which two are with Chelian da Parivar. Still canal water does not reach more than 50% of the village land.

12.    School:-Till 1954 there was no school nearby. With the dedicated efforts of S. Shankar Singh Mand, village school was brought up at Teli Chak. S. Shankar Singh Mand (Chelian Da Parivar) remained Chairman of the School till this school became Govt. School during 1971. This School now conducts classes till Senior Secondary. There is a separate primary school also in the village. S. Kuldeep Singh Nagra was the student of this school who is presently Chief Engineer of Punjab Water & Sewrage Dept. in Chandigarh and S. Didar Singh from this school is a Cardiologist (Heart Specialist) in Dasuya Govt. Hospital.

13.    Roads: - There were no roads till 1970. During seventies the existing roads came up and village was connected to Dasuya by road. It is now connected by road to Garhdiwala via Khun Khun village.

14.    Power Supply: - Electrical supply to this village was provided during end Nineteen Seventies.

15.    Telephones:- During mid Nineteen Nineties, telephones were provided to all village panchayats. Subsequently during the year Two Thousand private telephones were taken by different contributors. Now the village owners have mobile phones also.

16.     Guruduara: - Till 1990, there was no village Guruduara. Subsequently the whole community pooled the resources and brought up the alishan Guruduara. There is a big financial contribution by S. Vijaypal Singh (Canada) S/O S. Yograjpal Singh in bringing up the Guruduara in the present shape whereas more physical contribution is by Sub Sarwan Singh, S. Dilbag Singh & S. Darshan Singh etc.

VILLAGE SARPANCH

17.     Till 1998 Village Panchayat was common with Village Sajjan. S. Shankar Singh Mand was the first village Sarpanch, followed by S. Yograjpal Singh who stayed for the longest time as village Sarpanch till 1998. Subsequently post of Sarpanch became reserved for Harijans and V Mand has its own panchayat now (without V. Sajjana).

VILLAGE LAMBARDAR

18.     S. Yograjpal Singh was the Lambardar of the village till he expired during 1999, followed by village Lambardar S. Jasbinder Singh, who expired during 2010. Now Ms. Surinder Kaur is Lambardar of our village.
